Portrait Photography

I am Daniel Taylor, one of theĀ  Creative Director’s of the Taylor Taylor Hairdressing group in South Yorkshire. For me each day is varied; from maintaining a happy clientele to running a business achieving growth and staff development. I love to get involved in anything creative which helps our valued team.

I have found being a Guest Artist for Wella for the last 12 years has helped me maintain a focus on trends which helps me deliver new ideas and forecasts to both Guest Artists audiences and my own team.

Over the last 10 years we have had continued success with the Wella Trend Vision Where numerous team members have reached the regional heats and London finals. I was particularly proud of my achievement of winning the Bronze Award Colour Category in 2012. Year on year the competition is a real creative focus for the brand. One of my creative roles within the calendar is to support team members who enter the Trend Vision journey.

I have a wealth of experience in session work; from an early age I found this type of hairdressing really rewarding. I also found myself taking an interest in the photographer’s approach to a shoot. This led me to pursue the challenging task of mastering portrait photography.

This has been an interesting development within my own creative journey as I feel my photography interest has re-focussed my mind on creating something different and I have a fresh approach to all my work.

I began my journey by shadowing different photographers; this was vital to the right approach and purchasing the right equipment. I have then built a pop-up studio within our training academy which is a fantastic area for experimenting and developing different creative images both for me and the creative members of the team.

In 2017 we entered the American Crew Gents Image of the Year UK and one of our talented Barbers won the Award. The image won not only because the hair and theme were in tune with current and forcasted trends, but I believe that my capabilities and progression as a photographer helped to achieve the overall top spot in the competition. This gave me confidence that I had reached a level where I can compete with professional photographers.

I hope you appreciate the images available on our gallery. I have selected a few looks which are mainly used for salon promotions and social media for Taylor Taylor Hairdressing.
